What happens to DA in the 8th Pay Commission
At past pay commissions, the DA due on the effective date was folded into the new basic pay through the fitment factor, and DA restarted at 0%. It then rose again every January and July with prices.
DA is based on the All-India Consumer Price Index for Industrial Workers (AICPI-IW), published monthly by the Labour Bureau, averaged over 12 months.
